An Australian meat pie is a hand-sized meat pie containing diced or minced meat and gravy, sometimes with onion, mushrooms, or cheese and often consumed as a takeaway food snack. The meat pie is considered iconic in Australia and New Zealand. It was described by former New South Wales Premier Bob Carr in 2003 as Australia’s “national dish“. In a celebration of the iconic Aussie meat pie Tommy Smith Cafe will have 2 limited edition Tommy Smith Gourmet pies available this Australia Day weekend. 1. The ‘Lil Aussie Battler’ Egg & Bacon’ pie, 2. The Ash Barty ‘Grand Slam Lamb’ pie with slow roasted lamb, xxxx bitter, rosemary & caramelised garlic. A home-made Damper will be on the menu, as well as an all day breakfast, Beer battered Flathead and Chips, as well as all the usual Tommy Smith Cafe menu items. As a fully licensed venue, Woodlands is the perfect choice to spend your Australia Day with family and friends.
